Clean installation of 2.x on 0.70d

I miss the tutorial for dummies which was really helpful in the previous version of the CMS.
The instructions specify that it is advisable to do a new installation instead of updating.
How do I do this? do I simply delete all the files from the host, upload the unzipped files and then carry on?
Thanks,

Yes - but as suggested do a backup first.

Thanks, will try.
Since I customised many items, from style sheets to the menu. Do I have to redo them all?

Many... for example #menu is now #index and #content is not #exhibit amongst other things.
You need to update formats as well which will need coding skills.

On the other hand which formats were you using in the Legacy version?
There's updates of formats coming up... ;-)

thanks.
my stuff is on
insideimages.eu
I used the slideshow exhibition format.
What will I be able to keep?

Wait for this - there's an update for it full of goodies.

Thanks!

Common, please add a basic step-by-step instruction for a new installation.
The forum is fine - but very timeconsuming.....

- so I need to contact my webhost if I can´t enter the files through their website?

the_Mo / 2013-02-13 20:24:53

Or the "host" is the one on my computer?

so ftp-access is all there is to it?

arsondpi / 2013-02-13 20:40:38

There's two links in the Help section: Installation (w/movie) and Installation Long Version.
There both self explanatory.

Back up all your stuff to your computer then delete files, folders and database and continue with the new installation as suggested.

Ok, thanks I´ll try that..

suggestion: make a subsite in the left menu called `How to install´ or just plainly 'Installation', so the location of the section cant be missed...

just an idea! :)
