Database issue

lama / 2011-02-02 17:30:28

Hello,

I am stuck at the page where I need to enter
Exhibition Name
Database Server
Database Name
Database Username
Database Password
I think I've got complete information from my host, but I still get this message: "xx Please check your config settings again.
I created my database AFTER uploading the content of indexhibitv070e to the server. Could this be the problem?
Thanks for your help.
PS: My URL is www.laurenmarsolier@yahoo.com

No, you can create the database afterwards. You need to be 100% sure the connection info is correct.

Thank you for your prompt answer Vaska. My host is telling me that there are 2 ways to connect to mySQL database, locally and remotely. Which one are we using with indexhibit?

Vaska A / 2011-02-02 18:08:33

I would guess locally. I've never been asked this question before... ;)

lama / 2011-02-02 18:59:58

Sorry to bother you again. I have had the information reviewed again by my host (webhostingpad) and everything seems correct as far as they know. After trying the local connection:
Exhibition Name: www.laurenmarsolier.com
Database Server: localhost

we tried the remote connection: I whitelisted my IP address in the cpanel and entered my domain name instead of localhost. But none of this configuration works. I am still getting : "xxPlease check your config settings again"
Do you have any other idea about what might be wrong?

OK I finally figured it out. I hadn't added all privileges for the database user...

the_jil / 2011-02-04 04:43:45

lama, can you tell me how did you add privileges for the database user?

Vaska A / 2011-02-04 11:28:46

If your privileges are not already set, then your host provides tools to do this. You should give the database user all privileges.

To the-jil

In my case, I had to go my host (webhostingpad) cPanel page/ Database/ MySQL Database and click on the username I had created for that database. That took me to a "manage user privileges page" where I checked "all privileges" and submitted the change.
Hope that helps!

when you say you deleted the original database, do you mean you deleted all records or that you deleted the actual database and created a new one? if it's the second, you can try with both your old and new db name and password, etc

pernin / 2011-05-27 11:17:57

on second thoughts, another alternative is that if you haven't deleted your Indexhibit, installation, but just overwritten it with a new one, you may have the original ndxz-studio/config/config.php file there...

howley86 / 2011-05-27 12:41:19

i deleted the entire database and created a new one - i've created and deleted a few databases to see if any would work but to no avail. i've deleted my indexhibit and installed it again so i don't have the original config.php file there i think..

pernin / 2011-05-27 14:23:00

check that you actually don't have an ndxz-studio/config/config.php. If you do, open it to see what's the db login info, and check your permissions on the directory (777 in order to install)

howley86 / 2011-05-28 06:37:26

i don't have that file but i have a file called ndxz-studio/config/config.example.php

is that it because the permissions are 644 on it?

howley86 / 2011-05-28 06:53:36

i've got it working now. thanks for your help. i had 'localhost' typed in the database server info instead of my actual hostname!! i'm such an idiot!!

joda / 2011-05-31 02:29:09

hi
i have the same problem to install and bring to running indexhibit!
what have you do at last for running it?
Sorry for the bad english!

rickykappa / 2011-05-31 03:10:27
i had 'localhost' typed in the database server info instead of my actual hostname

@joda the answer is there already: did you check your config settings yourself?
please don't double post and be sure to double check the installation-for-dummies thread and forum rules
