website keeps going down

Hi,
A few days ago, I added several sections to the website and moved some projects from one section to the other. Ever since i made those changes, the website sometimes doesn't load and gives several errors.

The first being: "500 internal server error".

sometimes it gives a "Page not found error", with Warnings below.

and other times, the website works fine.

Does someone how i can fix this? Should I use the site reset script to clean things up?

Is there a time of day when this happens more frequently? Is there a page that has issues the most?

I'm clicking around and response seems good.

Are you on a free host per chance?

it seems to happen more frequently evenings and mornings. and doesn't allow me to load any pages

and we're not on a free host. in fact, the site's been running for almost a year now and we've never had any issues until couple days ago.

Who is your host?

I think, and this is a very common industry practice, your host has oversold the space. Or, there is a person on the same server who is using a ton of server resources.

Indexhibit is very light on servers - it's very rare to have this kind of an issue on a normal shared server (even under a rather high load).

Over the years I've always had success, when faced with this kind of problem, of getting the host to move me to a new server. But, this won't resolve things if the backlog is the database server itself...

When it happens, how long does it last? One hour? 6 hours? It possibly sounds like a time when the host could be backing things up (it happens to this website too).

I'm using network solutions. I've contacted them but still waiting for their reply. During the time when our website won't load, I am however able to load the wordpress blog (which is currently under construction)and is located outside the root folder but using the same host.

in terms of your last question, it lasts well over 6 hours. just started working again mid-morning but wasn't able to load the site all of last night.

They have differerent servers for databases. WP is much more intensive than Indexhibit on the servers...so you are on a cluster that either is oversold or somebody is using a ton of resources.

What I've done in this situation is make a new database - export your data - import it to the new one - update your config.php and hope that this cluster isn't overtaxed. You could even import it to the same database that you are running your WP on (since it seems to be more safe).

NS will likely blame Indexhibit but the system really does use much less power than a WP.

It's not normal for a server go down for six hours consitently and rather frequently...this is the sign of a bigger problem.

thanks. I'll try the export and see if it helps.
