Sorry, I have enabled the privileges in my control panel at icdsoft. I am using cyberduck.
I should be more clear.
I have changed the permissions for the three folders as instructed to 777.
I've created a database in my control panel at icdsoft, my server and have checked all of the privileges boxes. I have also enabled remote connections on my server.
I am using cyberduck.
I aimed my browser (Safari) to...
http://mobile.joshuabienko.com/indexhibitv070e/ndxz-studio/install.php
I am copying and pasting the names of my database, my database user, and the typing my password, but I keep getting the red X's.
two possibilities:
sometimes it takes a couple of hours for the server to refresh after you created a database (varies from host to host), so the database is not accessible at first. Waiting a couple (or three) hours takes care of that
how about your host info? localhost is common among hosts, but by no means the only possibility? check that too
Hey, just checked, seems like it's installed now?
Thank you for the response!
I am still getting the red x's. I don't think it's installed, but I'm crossing my fingers...
What are some of the other options re: localhost?
just checked and no, my bad, it isn't installed
it's probably the localhost thing, it's almost certainly not localhost, but something else (varies from host to host): check in your account control panel, where you made the database, among the info on your database name, user and password should be what the database host is. if you can't find it, it may be called something else... you can also ask your host ;-)
Hello guys... Ok.. after trial and error.... here are some steps if you are in MAC OS environment.
After following the instructions to install... i had tons of errors... you know which ones... but here is how to... install locally (on your computer) later on you will upload to your ftp.server
1. download indexhibit
2. create a folder under user/sites/site_name
3. drop all indexhibit items
4. go to sys pref / sharing / FILE SHARING / click on options / check 2nd box (FTP) (so you can access your computer through and FTP app (yummy, filezilla, etc)
5. Open (your fav ftp app) and connect to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and navigate to locate your folder (sites).. and change the permissions (as the instructions of install indexhibit)
- connecting to your database -
6. I use sequel pro.... create a database (encoding utf_8)
- installing procedure -
7. navigate in your browser (localhost/(your site or folder name)/ndxz-studio/install.php
8. fill in spaces (db server (localhost) / db name (name of your db created in step 6), db user (root), db pass (the password you use for login in to your computer)
9. IF EVERYTHING WENT WELL go to step 10 :)
10. Login info: user: index1 / pass: exhibit
VOILA!! done hope it helped!!
Still no luck. Wonder if anyone can help point me toward the problem? Should I contact my host (everything seems to be ok on their end, I'm not sure what I'd ask though)
@rbtal. Hmm, interesting approach. I'll give it a whirl and report back. Many thanks.
@pernin. You were right. I needed to use localhost/tmp/blahblahblah. So excited! Thank you!
