Database Is Not Installed

sallyfork / 2011-07-11 22:20:27

I followed the directions on the Indexhibit website. I first created a MySQL database and username and password. I uploaded the contents of the inexhibit install folder. I set the permissions. I verified that the FTP had uploaded to my cpanel. I go to type in loukishfy.com and it says database is not installed? and typing in http://www.loukishfy.com/ndxz-studio/install.php also yielded an error. I am using webhostingpad, they use linux servers. I'm not sure what else to do, I've already read through two pages of similar problems.

thanks,

lou

am I supposed to configure my FTP in cpanel also in addition to setting up a database??

i don't get an answer either from www.loukishfy.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

you must make sure that you uploaded all indexhibit files and folders into your root, this is the more likely problem. i'd recommend not using the cpanel, but a separate ftp application, filezilla or fireftp for firefox, or cyberduck, or similar and check where your root actually is and that all the indexhibit files have been correctly uploaded

I uploaded my files to the web root, public_html/www. There are other roots, such as a public FTP root and a document root that goes to loukishfy.com. SHould I be uploading my files to one of these roots??

ignore what I just wrote, the files go to /home2/lzvqdeco/public_html. Cpanel lists /home2/lzvqdeco as my home directory.

yes, everything seems to be there now. i now get an internal server error when trying http://loukishfy.com/ndxz-studio/install.php, which promts two questions you should ask your host: is the server on Linux? if it's on windows, indexhibit won't install, let alone work, and 2: does your server have php enabled?

sallyfork / 2011-07-12 13:15:20

yes, webhostingpad uses linux servers. However, I am unsure how to check if php is enabled. Is there an easy way to check?

pernin / 2011-07-12 13:19:30

well all hosts are different, you may be able to find something in your cpanel, but the really easy way is just ask them, as far as i can see this doesn't seem to be an indexhibit problem, let's see what they say ;-)

pernin / 2011-07-12 13:25:29

oh, blimey, and don't forget to check your folders' permissions

sallyfork / 2011-07-12 13:34:39

yeah, just double-checked my permissions and they are all right. I submitting a ticket to my webhost. We'll see!

This is the response I received:

"Yes, we have linux hosting servers with php 5+ and mysql 5+ . You can create databases via your Cpanel -> MySQL Databases option."

I stated that I made a MySQL database in my ticket!! not too helpful....

pernin / 2011-07-12 15:25:20

yes, really not helpful at all... tell you what, if you want i could take a look through your files in ftp if you give me your ftp details. not here in the forum, but you can mail them through info at bagofcats dot net
