I have been trying to update my style.css sheet in dreamweaver for my website www.vickiesimpson.co.uk.

I have updated the style sheet with type amendments, however when I save it and upload it back into the sample folder, the alterations do not appear on my website.

I am a html beginner!

except for your text is 8px instead of the default 9px I can't see any other difference in your http://www.vickiesimpson.co.uk/ndxz-studio/site/sample/style.css
I'm not using dreamweaver, but a simple text editor, wich is safer than wysiwyg editors.
however surely in dw there is an option to use it as only text editor, search the forum for answers, it has been asked and solved lot of times before

I have had a look through forums however I understand how to edit the style.css but the updates never show on my website. I change the typeface to be part of the 'courier new' family but when I saved the style.css sheet I saw no difference, so I changes the typeface back!

One of two reasons, off the top of my head: you need to refresh your browser cache (several shft_reload will do that), or you are changing one style sheet but using another (the one you are using is ndxz-studio/site/sample/style.css)
