Are hidden pages possible?

I'm thinking about switching to Indexhibit for my web design needs. I love what I see. I have a couple of questions though.

Am I able to pages on the site that don't have links on the home page. I use my site to communicate with students, etc. Sometimes I need to make a page for them that isn't necessarily private, but is not advertised to the whole world. For example, my home page is:

calebnei.com

I've made a page that I can tell certain people about here:

http://calebnei.com/pavan

Would I be able to to do this with Indexhibit?

Thanks so much! Couldn't find anything about it on the forum. Sorry if it's been answered.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.

The next version, soon now, will have hidden pages, password protected pages and...ummm..I thought I had a third thing but I can't remember now.

And...Dan and I are hatching up a special teacher/student edition as well. ;)

Awesome! I'm shocked at how quickly this was answered. I posted the question, took a walk, and when I returned...wow! Thanks again.

So, if I understand, the hidden pages feature isn't available yet, but will be soon.

Yes, hidden pages is available but I'm not happy with the implementation because it's a little tricky to figure out what the url is...but it does work with some effort.

I'm up late...we just finished a dinner party and I'm not ready to fall asleep. ;)

Hello Vaska,
can you explain how to figure out the url of an hidden page ? I have stumbled upon that problem myself and can't sort it out, and couldn't find the answer on the forum.
Thanks in advance !

It's quite simple, but wonky:

you make the page public
you go to it
you copy the url (now you know it!)
you make the page hidden

Voilà

hahaha ! that's smart ! thanks so much

also i just figured out how to infer the URL

if you named your hidden page "THE HIDDEN Page", for instance, you would get:

http://yoursitename.com/index.php?/yourprojectname/the-hidden-page/

wasn't so hard but i kept forgetting the "?" after "php", or the final "/"

palsecam / 2009-07-16 14:59:27

oups, i meant
http://yoursitename.com/index.php?/yoursectionname/the-hidden-page/

Your way is the smarter way :)

Does this no longer work? I have the URL of the page that was public that I now want hidden (but still accessible) but the page doesn't come up. Is this possible with "legacy" Indexhibit.

Click on Page Options and then simply set Hide from index to On.
You can also set a password for that page so it's viewable only to those you want to see it.
