Image uploading error

tikiman77 / 2011-09-22 18:45:57

The site has been working fine for a while, but all of a sudden I have been receiving this error:

-----------

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at 6810rosewood.com Port 80

---------

Does anyone know what caused this? I am certain that I didn't change any of the settings. The site was working fine last night. What happened??

The quicker I can get help the better, I am setting this site up for someone. Thank you.

I'm running into the same issue, can't seem to find the root of the problem either. Glad to know it isn't a standalone error though.

tikiman77 / 2011-09-22 19:49:08

I have switched out my SQL, I set up a new database completely. No dice.

Blackgrease, are you on Godaddy?

tikiman77 / 2011-09-22 20:18:08

I have been uploading some pretty big files, I wonder if it is a bandwidth max issue.

agabrysiak / 2011-09-22 21:08:29

I've received the same message when I was trying to upload images tonight, and I'm only uploading small jpgs. I have my site hosted through godaddy.

hood / 2011-09-22 21:55:51

tikiman, I am using Godaddy and I am having the exact same problem.

Honestly I am glad that this is happening to others as I hadn't logged in to my site in about a month and it worked fine last time I was uploading images.

Now if someone can explain why I can't login to my cyberduck ftp with the username and password I have always used life would be grand.:)

blackgrease / 2011-09-22 23:58:04

Also using Godaddy Tikiman, definitely not a file size issue. Everything I'm trying to upload is no more than 300k.

pernin / 2011-09-23 02:10:52

wow! could just someone read the forum rules? if we can't see your respective website addresses to begin with, it's difficult to see what is the error.

by some of your descriptions it may be a server timeout but it does not mean that all are the same, and obviously @hood has a very different prob

tikiman77 / 2011-09-23 02:33:45

I am curious if the issue is host wide (godaddy) it certainly sounds like it.

And yeah pernin, 6810rosewood.com

nothing is up yet, I reloaded the SQL database and re-installed indexibit.

pernin / 2011-09-23 02:49:14

And you still get a prob uploading images (small ones)? Then it's definitely a server issue, although not necessarily a host-wide issue, as hosts have many servers

even though you get an error during upload, can you check with ftp if your images actually got uploaded to files/gimgs?

it could be a timeout error. We generally recommend not uploading images larger than 150kB, because servers have to share processor and ram with several users, and some hosts may put too many users on one server (and well-prepared images do not need to be larger than 150kB for web purposes)

or it could be a glitch (related to the above issue) and it will disappear

beyond using smaller images, seems to be a host/server issue, and not much we can do from this end

tikiman77 / 2011-09-23 10:55:51

Well, i tried uploading a small image, and it worked, but a 200kb image wont work.

I will try compressing my images.

tikiman77 / 2011-09-23 11:12:11

I can't go lower than 160k with the needed images. This is very frustrating. I will contact godaddy.

It is frustrating because it was working day before yesterday.

tikiman77 / 2011-09-23 11:42:44

OK! I found the solution! (I called into godaddy)

GODADDY USERS:
Go to your hosting control center.
Under the green 'Settings tab' click, File Extensions Management

Edit
.php4 to run under PHP 4.x
.php to run under PHP 5.2.x
.php5 to run under PHP 5.2.x

This SHOULD do the trick!
The problem was that php was running with FastCGI enabled.
Disabling it solves the problem!

agabrysiak / 2011-09-23 12:07:20

Problem solved, thank you for your help Tikiman!

blackgrease / 2011-09-23 12:22:33

Everything is back in working order, thanks Tikiman.

Vaska A / 2011-09-23 14:17:03

Thanks for posting that info...

tikiman77 / 2011-09-24 01:33:02

Not a problem, glad this problem has been solved!

Vaska A / 2011-09-24 01:36:57

I've never seen anybody have this problem on that host though - many years and this is the first time.
