multilanguage indexhibit questions

mhtcka / 2012-06-07 11:58:56

Hello everybody,

I am using the previous (v72) indexhibit and thinking seriously about upgrading to v2.

There is one crucial question before i can decide:

Untill now i was using a multilanguage hack and multilanguage switch that enabled me to have a full working, two language exhibition and menu. you can see it working here: kokkinoukourkoulas.com

Does anybody know if this can work on v2 ??

I would also like to ask the community if someone uses the same hack/switch with 3 languages, and if so, i would like to know how it can be done...

Feel free to answer to me here in the forum or by personal message...

Oh! and happy new indexhibit...
A great thanks to Vaska and all of you for the support! :)

Hello

What is your hack ?
Maybe I can try it with my indexhibit v2 ?

I'm also interested in this! Please tell us more :-)

old multilanguage hack will not work with indexhibit 2, and as far as I know it's a fair bit down in the waiting list, but if any of you want to take a hand and try to port it, I guess there'll be more people happy to use it ;)

you'll have to do a search for multilanguage in customizations to find the old hack

This topic is covered before by another user....(Do we search the forum?¿)

I have 4 languages, no secrets, you add additional languages into Post Nav and then do the same on text areas with IDs.

Dont have idea coding but the plugin seems very simple/few lines so hopefully someone can port it :)

Hej adega (and anyone who can help),

I'm also interested in having two languages on my website marialitwa.com

Could I see how it works on yours? Do you use the new v2 or a previous one? May I ask, what exactly do you mean by "do the same on text areas with IDs."? How does that work? Sorry for my ignorance of this issue... I searched the forum but still can't find a simple solution. Thanks in advance! :)

Can someone please help with this?

Ok, but what is your question?

You do realize that Indexhibit is not a multi-language CMS.

Hi Vaska,

Thanks for helping me out.

Yes I realize that Indexhibit isn't a multi-language CMS and that I will need to manage two separate installations to pull this off, but it's a portfolio for a client and he wants a multi-language site.

I want to know what I have to do to be able to install and run 2 indexhibit sites on one server.
Do I have to install one version in (for example) an /EN folder and the other one in an /FR folder and just link the index.html files trough a splash page?
And what do I have to do with the databases?
I created 2 databases (because that is what I picked up in the other related topics) so should I just link one indexhibit to database nr1 and the other one to nr2 in a texteditor? (I'm using Coda 2).

I'm sorry I don't have the skill or knowledge but it's pretty hard to figure this out if there isn't a clear (step-by-step) explanation for this.
I just think that if you would make this very clear one single time, alot of people would be helped in the future.

Me again!
I managed to pull it off.
It's actually pretty simple, I just missed this part of the site: indexhibit.org/tutorials/getting-started/common-installation-problems/

Thanks anyway!
