abby110 / 2012-06-11 03:26:26

I followed the forum about this and checked the permissions folder-all set to 777
and MySQL Database is ok.
Any thoughts on what I am missing?

Thank you.
the htaccess now says ok but I am still getting the CHECK CONFIG at the end.
1. I fixed .htaccess and re-uploaded the htaccess from the original download
2. I unchecked under FETCH preferences "skip hidden items whose names begin with a period"
3 I could not find in my FTP any preference that gives me the option to change files to: "false or true" or "view hidden documents
thank you for your assistance with this

yes, 'check config' error usually there's some problem with the database information:

double check that the dabase information you fill in is correct and exact, even uppercase and lowercase and blank spaces must be exact

most often it's the database server, which could be different from 'localhost' Check in your host's control panel, or ask your host about it

I'm also having the same problem, this is my fourth time clean reinstalling the new version of Indexhibit. Previous times, I had an issue with not being able to login but for this time round, I have the xx check config, as far as I know I've not done anything different from the several times I've installed.

??

Vaska A / 2012-06-17 13:31:49

Did you create a database? Does it have all the user privilges?

What are your connection strings (but not the password)?

amandanicoleschmidt / 2012-06-18 02:34:00

I can't get past the .htaccess problem. In Filezilla I changed it from "htaccess" to ".htaccess". I also checked "Force showing hidden files". Then I reload yourdomain.com/ndxzstudio/… (with my domain name in it) and it keeps telling me that ?? htaccess not ok. I don't know how everyone is fixing this? Thanks. amandanicoleschmidt.com

Also, is it possible to go further with the installation without the htaccess problem solved? Because on the next page with database info, I am having the xx check config problem. I don't know what to put for database name. The IP address? Thanks.

Also, I'm clueless with this stuff. Just to check, I have domain and hosting with Godaddy and downloaded Filezilla and tied that into the FTP file manager on my account in Godaddy. I just want to check that this is a correct way to do all this?

Hi, I was finally able to get to the login screen, and put in my database name, the username and password I created to have access to that database, but I am still getting the config error message.

I renamed htaccess to .htaccess also.

Help please.

raisecain / 2012-06-26 17:31:15

It says "check config"

Vaska A / 2012-06-26 17:37:11

People should not be focusing on the htaccess file - that was not good advice and I have edited that out of this thread.

Have you used the new install.php file? You must be 100% sure your connection info is correct.

raisecain / 2012-06-26 17:40:59

I did download the new install.php file you have in the top of the thread

I triple checked the usernames and everything.

Have you confirmed your database info with your webhost?

raisecain / 2012-06-26 17:57:06

Not sure what you mean? I am with mediatemple, and I have databases running for wordpress and had a database for the older version of Indexhibit without any problems. I deleted everything from the ftp for the old version to do a clean install.

Vaska A / 2012-06-26 18:10:01

It's really easy to install on MT. Something isn't right with your connection info. Does your database user have privileges? Etc...

raisecain / 2012-06-27 05:52:07

Vaska: I have tried to delete and re-install this version again. I checked the settings for the files like it said in the video (dimgs, gimgs) to make sure they are 777.

I have deleted the old db's and set up a new db and made sure a db user has all execute/read/write permisions for that database and I am still getting the same error. :(

raisecain / 2012-06-27 06:11:48

Nevermind, the database shouldn't have been "localhost" but the actual internal address. I was going by the YouTube tutorial that said that it's almost always best to leave it 'localhost'

Sorry!
