Broken exhibit - Can't edit to delete

alexjdsmith / 2012-10-05 05:06:03

I recently upgraded to version 2, and everything went pretty smoothly, except for one thing. I had an exhibit that had a single extremely wide image, and it worked fine on the old version, but the new version broke it. I've now replaced it with something different, and simply want to delete the old exhibit, but I cannot edit it. When I hit the 'edit' option for that exhibit I just get a blank page, so I can't even delete it.

Here's the exhibit in question:

How can I get rid of this exhibit, or at least hide it so it doesn't show up in my menu?

I know what's happening here, I think. You get a blank page because the image is so big that it's crashing the server - so Indexhibit is unable to execute.

You can utilize PHPMyAdmin to track down the image in the _media table, delete its record, and then Indexhibit will work again. I'm not sure if this is a bug or wholly on the server.

Can I guess that you are using Godaddy for hosting? Correct?

Yep, I'm using GoDaddy.

Unfortunately I'm not too savvy on this stuff, so I'm not sure how to do what you're asking. Could you give me some pointers?

Cheers!

Yeah, they have a weird bug in their system going on - it fails without an errors. I've read about this around the web. Super frustrating.

Send me your Godaddy login and I'll take it out of the database. I guess you need to send me your Indexhibit login and tell me which exhibit has the bad image.

That's great - thanks!

Sending you the details now, just please don't buy me any more shitty domains - I have more than enough... ;)

Gah...

I just logged into my database with phpMyAdmin, didn't change anything, and now my whole site is down with the following message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20 bytes) in /home/content/a/l/e/alexjdsmith/html/ndxzstudio/common.php on line 158

I can't access alexjdsmith.com/ndxzstudio/ either.

OK, so I used phpMyAdmin to track down the huge image, and deleted it.

However, the site is still down, with the following message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20 bytes) in /home/content/a/l/e/alexjdsmith/html/ndxzstudio/common.php on line 39

Any ideas what this means?

Thanks guys.

Did you change the password or login to your database?

alexjdsmith / 2012-10-09 22:32:43

Yeah. I'd forgotten the password, so I had to reset it.

alexjdsmith / 2012-10-09 22:43:55

Aha! I managed to figure out my initial password, and the site is back up.

Also, the database fix you recommended seems to have fixed the busted exhibit too.

Thanks so much for your help!
