cannot get past ftp transfer

goilzilla / 2008-09-12 18:32:24

after I install the files to the root directory, I direct my browser to the site and I get the following message-

Warning: main(defaults.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/goilandtom.awardspace.com/ndxz-studio/install.php on line 18

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'defaults.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php4/share/pear') in /home/www/goilandtom.awardspace.com/ndxz-studio/install.php on line 18

I cannot get past this point and have loaded and reloaded.

I am using Firefox and awardspace-

goilandtom.awardspace.com

any help would be so great!

ok- finally got something-
is the database server the same as the database host?
so do we replace localhost with, for example? fdbl.awardspace.com

ask. Your. Webhost. For this info...we don't know it.

Morbitzer / 2008-09-12 21:58:13

we have the info but are still bumping into issues- a friend of ours used the same service and indexhibit about a month ago so we know it is comaptible. his website is

http://ngoodenow.awardspace.com/

ours should be goilandtom.awardspace.com

the db name they gave us has an underscore- is that allowed?
the db name and db username are the same- is that cool?
the db server has two options- one is fdb1.awardspace.com and the other is db4.awardspace.com- in different places it is referred to as different things (in myphpadmin) versus the awardspace cp 'database manager'.

if this offers any help in helping you help us- it would be so appreciated. we have scoured the posts and will keep looking.

Doesn't sound to me like you asked your host...confirm the setting with them. We can not guess them.

goilzilla / 2008-09-17 13:09:24

so i asked the host. i gave them the set up database page for them to fill. with all the correct information they also have problems. at this point i am not sure what i need. here is the letter from my host

We tried using the correct database details but unfortunately with no success. You will have to ask the guys providing this software what you need to do, even if you want you can provide them with your DB details and grant them access to your phpMyAdmin so they can see it is actually working. I am not sure but you should also ask them if the installation needs connections through socket to be enabled, and if their answer is yes, this means you won't be able to proceed with the installation as these connections are disabled for security reasons.
