My site changes its structure based on how big the browser window is. It could be quite a pain to navigate on say mobile device. How to embed the layout design of the site so it wouldnt change?

Well that's how things work in webdesign.
Now you either have to find a new way to keep your layout, that makes it fluid or you need to set new stylesheets for mobile devices...
Search the web for these - I know it's a pain but this is how it is most of the times.
