changing the program's temporary directory to a local temporary directory

I have been trying to figure this out all weekend and have made no headway. I cannot upload images.. tried all of the things in the forum... i have gone through 4 or 5 tech people at liquid web - each ends up with the same conclusion that something is going on with the temp directory.

I've spent some time going through this issue, and it looks like the root of
the problem us that the software really wants to use the /root/tmp directory
as its scratch area, which is not possible on a shared server.
What we need to do is change the program's default temp directory to a local
temp directory, but I'm not finding any clear way to do that either through
the admin panel or in the configuration files.
What I'd ask you to do is inquire in the software support forums exactly how
one would go about changing the temp directory and then return the response to
us here in the ticket.

please help
thanks

What? That's a setting from your webhost - we don't control the tmp directory.

If they can't figure that one out - there is no hope to be honest. Really bizarre that they claim that that is the problem yet they think it's caused by Indexhibit.

This was what another said tech person said

I can't seem to find where in your CMS admin area you could change this but it
appears you have your tmp directory set as /root/tmp/ which unfortunatly you
do not have access to on a shared account.

Failed to create file
"/root/tmp/20121104-142906-(i.p.address)-request_body-dV6UL7" because
13("Permission denied"

All you would need to do is correct the tmp file path within your
configuration and this will likely begin to work.

Does this add anything to the issue?

thanks

They are not doing their job - this is a server issue.

NOWHERE within Indexhibit do we set the tmp directory path because we DO NOT control that part of things. It's a server issue...php.ini.

I am very surprised to hear them telling you this - they know all too well that it's a server setup issue. Nothing myself or Indexhibit can do about this.
