cheolhpark.com

i changed my permissions to the main folder to 777 and i hit apply changes recursively
and this is what appears once i try to open the webpage

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /main/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

And why would you do that? A recursive change like that will be fatal to your site.

Files should be 644
Folders 755
And only the ones we tell you 777

Don't touch your files folder whatever you do.

chpimage / 2012-12-11 19:14:44

so /chpstudio/main/files should be set at 644

chpimage / 2012-12-11 19:17:19

is there any way to reset the permissions to what theyre supposed to be???

Vaska A / 2012-12-11 19:21:08

No, there isn't. Nowhere do we ever tell people to change permissions recursively.

You should NOT touch the files folder at all - leave it alone.

chpimage / 2012-12-11 19:22:13

so what are my options?

Vaska A / 2012-12-11 19:42:07

To fix the files...the hard way...

chpimage / 2012-12-11 19:45:07

go on.....

chpimage / 2012-12-11 19:48:29

do i have to go though evey file and folder and change the permissions specifically?

Vaska A / 2012-12-11 19:49:08

Are you just joking around here? I've already told you how to do it...

Messing up your permissions is not an Indexhibit issue (except that it, or anything, won't work). Fix your files...see above.

chpimage / 2012-12-11 20:26:25

i apologize,
i just dont want to mess it up.

i think i understand what you mean, and ill go through each one.

could you tell me which specific ones have to be 777?

Vaska A / 2012-12-11 20:30:32

Don't touch the files folder...nothing.

Everything else, since it's already installed:

- files 644
- folders 755

Recursive is a problem unless you know what you are doing - don't use it. This is going to take you some time to resolve.

When you are done and everything works, back up your files to your computer. That would alleviate this problem in just a few minutes.

chpimage / 2012-12-11 20:51:13

so i changed permissions
to:

- files 644
- folders 755

i still get the forbidden page.

do you think that 1and1.com has a backup of my ftp?

Hello Chpimage,
the one and only who get the backup answer is your host. Ask them.
