Duplication of Images

After adjusting file sizes of images in an exhibit I noticed that the file names of the pictures have changed. I FTP'd to check the files/gimgs and files/dimgs folders and I have literally hundreds of image duplicates of the original files I uploaded. Why does this happen?

I do all image editing prior to uploading is there a way to disengage the resizing option?

Thanks!

No, you can't turn it off - it's fundamental to having thumbnails and system images. These images don't harm your site in the least.

Indexhibit has always worked this way...

I understand--but it does use up a lot of disk space.

Question: When I uploaded a file 600h X 900w indexhibit changed the size of the file to 580 X 900, why would that happen?

Thanks for the speedy response Vaska!!

It resizes according to context.

Webspace is hardly an issue these days - most of the images are thumbnails and tiny, as well.

If you want a website that has thumbnails and resizing of images in a variety sizes this is the only way it's going to happen.

If you don't want that - I don't know what you will do - but Indexhibit will not be the tool for you.
