I cannot access the sections created on my site.

Greeting,

My address is as followed: marc-grimpe-m.com

I've created new sections on my site. I cannot access these sections from my website. Clicking on them doesn't do anything. If I copy/past the path to the section, it gives me a 404 error message.

I would really appreciate any help on this particular issue.

Kind regards,
Marc

First of all you need to fix errors: validator.w3.org/…

And then you'll notice that you'll be getting a No input file specified message.
That's not an Indexhibit message actually. Your mod_rewrite/htaccess is not setup properly for clean urls... Check the Help section about Clean urls and if you still did everything right then check if mod_rewrite is enabled from your host.

Thank you for this quick reply. As often stated, I'm very new to this. Not quite sure how to process the information you just gave me.

Now, I just started with my website, so maybe it's easier to look from that angle. I don't see where I did wrong, I only added sections from the indexhibit interface. Would it be easier if I just started again?

Didn't I respond to this question in another thread?

Disable expanding menus (you should use Indexpand menus found on the plugins page instead) and see if you can access the sections then. Let us know how it goes...

If it was answered in an other thread, my apologies for reposting, I didn't see it. I will do as advised and come back with an update. Thank you.

I disabled "expanding menus", downloaded "Indexpand", uploaded it to the proper folders, enabled it and I have the same problem as before.

Wondering where to go from here. User "arsondpi", your comment doesn't seem to relate to my issue because the link you posted (Markup Validation Service), says that I have no problems. Is it maybe only a question of clean urls?

I can see the problem now. Indexpand is the replacement for expanding menus - you should use it going forward.

The problem with your site is that mod_rewrite/htaccess is not setup properly. First, make sure you followed all the instructions about setting that up (you did miss a step). And when you have done that, if it still doesn't work you can try some alternate rules for the htaccess file.

It's not hard to resolve, but we can only go one step at a time...

Ok, so to be clear from the start and address the issue with "mod_rewrite/htaccess". What exactly is that? Was the step I missed, the one right after I uploaded Indexhebit, when I had to type the information? Sorry, I'm completely illiterate when it comes to this but I pick up on things quickly, so I won't be a pain in the ass for long.

This tutorial is what you are looking for...

You're doing fine. We're here to help. ;)

Ok, so I changed the name of the "htaccess" file to ".htaccess" (it's no longer visible but when I type it in the search menu, I see it and it's transparent).

I changed the ndxzsite/config/options.php file from " 'MODREWRITE', false "
to " 'MODREWRITE', true " and no success. I still have the same issue.

Editing the .htaccess file by adding a slash on the last line, doesn't work also.

You re-enabled expanding menus? I can't even click on your sections to check - keep anything on the menus disabled until this is resolved...

Have you added any content to any sections yet? As far as I can tell, clean url's are working just fine (because I see the section title).

marcgm / 2012-12-30 20:18:00

No, expanding menus is disabled and Indexpand is enabled. I have now disabled it also, as you requested.

I added text to every sections. Your link brings me to the section. But once you click on Profil, you can't go back to any sections.

UPDATE: Disabling "Indexpand" makes it work. Everything is working fine now. Did "indexpand" add some sort of visual transition between sections?

Vaska A / 2012-12-30 20:22:12

Ok, first problem, clean url's work.

But once you click on Profil, you can't go back to any sections.

Works great for me.

Now, you don't need or want to use Indexpand until you have exhibits in your sections. By design, it disables the click on section titles. There are options (visit Admin > Plugins > Indexpand) to change from click to hover (so the click will work) or for Indexpand to avoid section from the expand.

Everything is working fine...

Yes, everything is now working fine. I really appreciate your dedication towards fixing my problem. Thank you very much!
