Publishing is reversed

hello,

i'm very new to web design and to indexhibit. i managed to get through the installation process ok (though I had to redo it), and now i'm having an odd thing happen with publishing the site.

when i select publishing "off", i can see the information. when i select publishing "on", i cannot.

gedneybarclay.com is my website.

cheers,

g.

also like a previous poster, my exhibits are invisible, but if you hover your mouse over where they should be and click, it takes you to the correct place.

2. If you are going to use the Indexhibit style plugin you MUST select colors for each of the link states - otherwise they end up being white.

1. This is happening to all of your exhibits? Have you tried re-clicking on a published exhibit to make a published (instead of turning it off then back on)?

2. changing the link states fixed the visibility of my home page title. thanks.

1. Now the links to my exhibits and sections are all visible, regardless of whether or not the publishing is on or off. Additionally, when i visit my home page and try to click on either of the two exhibits that actually have content already on them, nothing happens. when i type in their designated web address (gedneybarclay.com/… and gedneybarclay.com/about), it says the page is not found.

I'm not sure what you mean by re-clicking on a published exhibit to make a published.

thanks for your patience and help.

When it say "on" for published just click it again - does it change anything at the front of your site?

Next, you should disable expanding menus because you are using them improperly. They disable the section title from having a link - they have always worked that way. If you want them to be clickable you should download the Indexpand menu plugin (which replaces the old version) and then you have more options (via the plugin section).

As far as I can tell, things are working fine, but you are tripping up on some common things (some of which are beyond Indexhibit).

I think you also have not setup your clean url's properly which is why your links (above) do not work - see the 'Help' section for the tutorial about setting them up.

hi,

disabling the expanding menus made the links functional again. but i'll still look into setting up my clean urls.

no more enabling things without understanding them better, as that seems to be the root of my problems.

thanks again for your help.

Well, one problem compounded the others. Get clean url's working first, enable the Indexpand menu's and make use of their options and the rest will fall into place, I believe.
