I love the new CMS, and consider upgrading
(my site is ohlers.com)

but why does these really low res images take like 3-5 sec to load?

Are you referring to the demo site?
The demo site is... a demo site and it may have lots of people trying out version 2. Thus the slow loading times. In your server it will work fine.

The demo is a bit older code and they could be loading for a variety of reasons.
