Change name of mySQL database in use with indexhibit

Hello All,

I've changed to a new server where I can't rename my mySQL database name. Is there a way to change the name of the database required by indexhibit so I can just copy my site over? This is too avoid having to make my site again, I have a full back up of the old one.

I didn't, however, make a copy of the old mySQL database, which I realize might be a deal-breaker. If anyone has any help for me I'd appreciate it.

If you don't have a copy of the database then it is a deal breaker. Can you ask your old host for that?

Otherwise, you will need to start with a fresh installation (then reuse your existing templates, etc).

Figured as much - not a big deal, the site is pretty basic. I'm doing a fresh install, but are there any of the files which I have from the old install which I can copy over to the new one and save some time?

For a new install with v2, no, you don't need any of the old files.

I was thinking more about files and folders I could upload to save me the time of setting it all up again in the back end. It's alright though, I can do it from scratch. Thanks for all the work that you do.

Yes, you can't save anything. You can use your old image files to repopulate the new site, but I thought that was obvious.

Without your database, things are wiped out...

Wait I can see you said reuse your existing templates, etc. This must be about I'm thinking about. Which folders can I upload from the old site?

Ok, thanks for the help Vaska

So here I am, back again. I found a backup copy of the mySQL database which I had made some time ago. Any tips what to do now that I have one?

Import it via the phpMyAdmin (a database web application) of your server.

I did that, so does that mean that the old site will work on the new server, even thought the name of the database is different? When I uploaded it via phpMyAdmin, then it imported it into the new database.

You need to do a number of things now...

1. Get your old site running.
-- update /ndxz-studio/config/config.php with new db connection info

2. Upload v2 of Indexhibit
-- try to upgrade

jerichoao / 2013-02-12 18:53:53

Alright, I'll get on that. I changed domain register too, so now I have to wait for that to go through. I'll update the config.php file in the meantime. I'm already running v2. I'll let you guys know what happens...

Hi Vaska et. all,
I found the config.php file in /ndxzsite/config , not under the file path you named. I assume this must be because it changed under version 2. I changed the db info there. Is that all I need to do?

arsondpi / 2013-02-13 11:11:10

...did you try to upgrade (there's instruction about this in the Help section)?

jerichoao / 2013-02-13 11:33:14

What should I upgrade? I'm running V2. Is there something else I need to upgrade?
