Visual index - can't get it to work

mbianucci / 2013-02-28 21:11:49

Hello everyone,

I know Visual Index is meant to be the default format but it doesn't seem to work for me.
All I get is a white background. This is the site: bianucci.net
Visual Index is 'Enabled' in the Format options, and I've played around with the options but no luck.
I'm not super code savvy but had managed to customize the previous Indexhibit version, so I thought I should be fine!

Can you point me in a direction to solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry, the link won't work: bianucci.net

...seems to work fine in this page: bianucci.net/index.php/project/carga/

Thank you arsondpi,

Yes, it works fine on the individual exhibits, but what I am trying to do is for the "main" page to take an image from each project and have a thumbnail.
Isn't that what it is supposed to happen?

searching for answers in the forum I found this: nathanwilliamsmith.com/

that's what I would like to see... any ideas?

thanks again!

Hello,
Did you set, in your page "Options" (on the right when you edit a page), "Media Source" to "Section" ?

Hello lemathieu,

The only option for the "Exhibit Options" under "Media Source" is 'exhibit'.
There is no 'Section' to choose...

Also, would selecting something on one exhibit affect the behavior of the 'main' page?

thank you

The exhibit needs to be a section exhibit in order to display a visual index of your exhibits...

I'm not sure I understand the second question - what do you mean by "selecting something"?

mbianucci / 2013-03-01 15:34:51

I'm not sure I am following this correctly.

I want the main page (bianucci.net) to be a grid of thumbnails of all exhibits (projects) that are "on".

I don't want each of the exhibits (i.e: bianucci.net/index.php/residential/cardales-house/ ) to be a visual index.

I don't know which settings I need to work with so that the main page picks an image of each exhibit (project) and displays a thumbnail of that.

But maybe I am wrong and there is nothing that does what I need?

I actually started from scratch instead of maintaining my 'upgraded' indexhibit from v.07
That sorted everything... now i just have a lot of work ahead!!

thanks for your help...

hi, i do want each of the exhibits to be a separate visual index, rather than an index of everything on my site on the main page.
how did you do that?
so that i can click a folder and then see the images inside this folder only as a visual index.
if i just make a section and add images to it, and click publish > on, the visual index doesn't appear.
please let me know.

blacktigerclaw there's no need to post the same question in many threads.
As I suggested in the previous thread your home page has all/section/exhibit as its media source. Simply select section or exhibit if you don't want a visual index of all your exhibits in your site.

Trying to do similar; have a grid of clickable images that resolve to each section; no
success after trying a few options. By going to 'visual index' under 'exhibit format' in Exhibit options, allows setting 'section', but then the opening page image disappears,
and can't load any images to that Home page. I did manage to get single (non-clickable) images showing, but is there a way to have them just show as a grid, or position them manually ?
Thanks

How are you using Indexhibit v2 if your account has not registered or purchased it from our site?

This thread has been closed, thank you.
