Indexhibit Support

Hello, I am trying to install CMS 2 - should I upload new files onto webroot ? I don't want to lose old site, just upgrade version of indexhibit

I read somewhere that I have to save all my old files and start from scratch, I was wondering if I can just perform an upgrade as smoothly as possible?

No, you don't have to start from scratch. You may need to spend some time upgrading templates.

a last kind of question: I don't remember from last time, what are the 0777 permissions ? I use GoDaddy hosting, how do I find the relevant section through that if anyone knows?
I am attempting to back up the site via Dreamweaver and FTP's hopefully it will work ...

I recommend not using DW. It does some odd things and unless you are well versed in using it things could go wrong.

You should use a proper FTP application to do permissions - I prefer Coda (for Mac) to do all of these things (but it's not free).

I can see its saved my SQL on a backup folder - is this sufficient backup enough?
Do I need to save anything else?

do I make new folders /ndxzsite/ or should I add the relevant files onto the existing folders from version 1 ?

you don't need to make new folders.
You just upload version 2 files and folders as described here: indexhibit.org/tutorials/upgrade/upgrade-to-version-two/

I've followed the instructions but somehow now I am getting

Warning: require_once(ndxzsite/config/options.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/24/7623624/html/index.php on line 9

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'ndxzsite/config/options.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/24/7623624/html/index.php on line 9

I've resolved it , all seems up and running. Now I guess I need to update my templates? Still getting errors like input files selected

Visit each exhibit via the studio and it will regenerate your images - that's what those error messages are about right now. Easy fix...

Hi again - I'm having no luck - how do I do this exactly? Via webroot or the indexhibit site?
Everything has changed in the new version - where do I find and upgrade my templates like you mentioned before?

No luck yet! can someone please advise me where I am going wrong?

Well, right now you are having modrewrite problems - did you set things up properly? There is a short tutorial about this in the help section.

But, it's not working. Which means something is wrong with the htaccess rules - did you try the alternate that is listed on the tutorial?

Otherwise, revert back to non clean url's for the moment.

It is htaccess - the file is currently empty from what I can see.
But where do I go to update this & how , what coding ?

There are two htaccess files, one from previous version and one new - the new one is empty. should I update with the following

/RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^(.+) - [PT,L]
RewriteRule ^(.+) index.php/

Try to reupload the htaccess file from the original indexhibit download.
Don't forget to rename it with a dot in the front: .htaccess

Now the whole URL is not working for some reason I tried to re-upload the file.
renaming with .htaccess is not permitted - I attempted it and is this now why URL not working?

what do you mean not permitted? are you doin this with your ftp app?
try removing the old .htaccess before uploading and renaming the one that came with indexhibit

OK , I have now updated to .htaccess and added /
still no input file selected.

I'm attempting to clean up URL and my config folder is empty. When I was updating indexhibit the server was slow, is it possible that some templates are missing because of this?
should I re-install ?

One step at a time.
Get the site working without clean url's.
Then try it with clean url's. If it still breaks then ask your host if they can enable MOD_REWRITE in your server.

You didn't follow the direction and enable modrewrite in the options.php file.
