Cover image attaching not working

emirarkman / 2013-07-02 21:58:30

Hello,
My cover image attaching suddenly stopped working. I open up an existing exhibition, got the first image and click its settings icon. Upload and add image by clicking 'attach cover'. Perfectly uploads and shows the new cover below the original image thumb. I click close and click to publish 'on' again.

But when I check the website, nothing happens to the thumbnail.. I've tried with various exhibits, cover image sizes, cover image formats, etc but not achieved success here. It was working on localhost, but not on server. (except cover image, everything work fine. Uploading, new exhibit creating, image ordering, etc.)

I am going crazy. Please help.

Thank you.

Not sure exactly what you mean - do you have a url address to take a look?

I am also not able to work with the cover image attach feature – I have attached a cover image and nothing happens. It has never worked for me but am not sure what it actually does either. Will keep checking this thread to see what the solution is...

If it helps I put a cover image on this page lookupspeak.com/index.php/gday-usa--new-york-philanthropic-dinner/

A cover image has many applications. One of which is that it replaces the main image of an exhibit with a cover image.

I was hoping that it did that but nothing changes when I attach it so think it is not working. Unless it doesn't change the cover image on a thumbnail. Oh well won't dwell on it as will use the basics and not try to get too tricky.

You are right, we need to be more explicit about this...we'll do that soon.

It replaces the image on thumbnails. We see no reason why it would actually replace the image itself.

On the over over format, your link above, cover art won't do anything to the exhibit. In place where a thumbnail is displayed for that project though it will.

Hi - thank you for your response. I was hoping that it would do what you say it should. Any tips on making it work?

Also just an update now all my thumbnails have disappeared. I will delete and replace with my backup again to see if that works.

Which page are you talking about?

Cover images don't do anything on the over over format.

I remember reading somewhere to regenerate the thumbnails you had to change the Thumbnail size or format on the Visual Index, I think? I can't seem to find a sure way of doing this. I'm using Visual Index with the media source as Section, then for each exhibit within the section its first image has a cover image to be shown in the Visual index on the section page.

Although it never appears first time, so I go into the section page and select different sizes for the thumbnails/different formats, but its a bit hit and miss. Then when it does change, if you select another option it can revert back sporadically. Tried clearing the cache/checking other computers. Any more information on this?

Hm, guessing it has something to do with the settings on the Visual Index for generation of the thumb, at the point of uploading an image in the Exhibit...before then uploading a cover image...maybe...

what's weird as well is that the very small thumbnails on the back end, in the section with the Visual Index, are all as they should be; reflecting the cover image you intend...

Hmmm - it happened to me as well.
What I did is I cleared the dynamic images (Admin>Settings>Clear Dynamic Images)
Worked for me...

That sorted it, thanks arson.
