Page note opening in Firefox or Google Chrome

I have installed Indexhibit correctly and checked with my hosting provider that everything is correclty set up at their end. I am a Mac user. My site is: simonlogan.org The homepage for my site opens fine if I type the URL into Safari, but if i type it into Firefox or google chrome it warns of a redirection to a non-secure page, and if I override this I get the (legitimate) support page for my hosting provider. If, however I type my web address into google and follow the google link in either firefox or chrome my main page opens up fine, if I type the URL into a word doc and follow it as a hyperlink with firefox as my default browser it opens up fine too. I have emptied the caches and deleted the histories of firefox and chrome, I have emptied the caches on my machine, I have deleted and then re-installed firefox and chrome and still the same problem. Can anyone help? What stupid mistake have I made?

I'm typing it into Chrome and it's working just fine.

Hi Vaska,

I asked someone else to type it into firefox on their machine and it also worked fine, but still not for me - maybe it's some kind of peculiar one-off glitch with my ip address, or something, and not to do with indexhibit? Thank you very much for your help.

It's not Indexhibit that is doing that. If it's on the server, it's a hack of some sort...but I don't see it.

Try doing the shift + browser refresh and see if it helps.

I have finally solved it: I have google set as my homepage, firefox, chrome or google (don't know which) corrects the http to https in the address, I was typing in my site address without spotting it, my hosting provides a generic ssl which is turned on but gives their details rather than ones specific to my address, therefore I got the security warnings and then direction to their site (I think). If I take the 's' out of https, or just delete and type www, etc.. everything is fine.

Thank you for taking the time to try to help me with this Vaska, obviously this was after all a stupid mistake on my part, so I particularly appreciate your help.
