Changed over to a new host but my website's not working

Carnimals / 2014-01-07 19:23:07

Hello,

I have purchased a new hosting package. It uses Linux and Apache.

I followed instructions from this forum to back up my database file from my old host and transferred it to my new host. This was successful.

I have also download my file from my previous server and uploaded to my new one.
All uploads successful.

However, my website still does not work? Can someone help as to what I need to do please?
I couldn't seem to find any other help i the forum about this problem...

My website is: misslee.co.uk

Also to add, I followed this:
indexhibit.org/forum/thread/5912/

but I'm having troubles with section 3: 'Re-installing Index-Exhibit'.

Hello.
I'm not sure what are you trying to do though - are you installing, upgrading or reinstalling?
The thread you posted above concerns Legacy version sites and not Version 2.
However the general idea is the same but -again- what are trying to do?

Carnimals / 2014-01-07 22:13:32

Apologies for not being clear.

I want to move indexhibit to my new host.

arsondpi / 2014-01-07 22:30:15

So did you upgrade to Version 2 prior to moving?
Or did you move your Legacy version site to the new server and then tried to upgrade?

Carnimals / 2014-01-07 22:39:34

No, I never upgraded at all...

arsondpi / 2014-01-07 22:47:56

Oh ok- so you have a Legacy Version site then.
When you created the new database in the new server (to import the old database with phpMyAdmin) did you update the database connection details in the config.php file?

Carnimals / 2014-01-07 23:43:01

No, I haven't updated the details.

How do I update them? And what info do I need?

arsondpi / 2014-01-08 08:50:31

When you created the new database, you must have got the new connection details.
You need to update these to the config.php file (ndxz-studio>config folders) using a code editor and an ftp application.
To be honest the post above is what you should follow.

Hi there,

I followed the instructions here: indexhibit.org/forum/thread/5912/

The first time failed, second it worked but only my home page was working. The other pages showed a 404 error code.
So I uploaded the files again. However, my website just does not work now at all.
I have tried to follow the instructions again but it's a failed attempt each time...

Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?

Carnimals / 2014-02-14 10:51:35

Hi,

I tried my website again and it successfully went into the login page.
Although this is working, my website is showing a 403 error.

Any ideas?

arsondpi / 2014-02-14 11:21:43

Well I typed misslee.co.uk/… which is your frontend (your site)
I get a 404 which means that the specific index.php that should be in the root directory is not there.
Also when simply typing your domain name I get a 403 which "are the result of the web server being configured to deny access, for some reason, to the requested resource by the client."
Did you move upload the .htaccess file as well?

Carnimals / 2014-02-14 11:49:19

I just reuploaded the index.php file into the root directory.
The .htaccess file is in the root directory.

Now my website shows: "Database is not installed."

Carnimals / 2014-02-14 12:06:15

I went back into my old server and downloaded the index.php and .htaccess files, then uploaded onto the new server. This seems to have solved the problem!
My website seems to be working fine now.

Thank you for pointing those two files out. It turned out the .htaccess file was blank.

Thanks for all the help and guidance!
