I resolved this, with the help from my hosting provider.
The reason seemed to be for two things:
- the length of the database name and database user name – it was too long. After chosing names with less than 16 characters for both these elements, it went fine
- the database password had special characters. After simplifying it, it also went fine.
Nice that you got this fixed.
Sadly, no-one has answered my question regarding the mobile-friendly plugin...
