I have a feeling you tried to upload an image that is too big for your webhost to handle. In some cases, large images will cause PHP to breakdown like this. If you can delete the images via the studio that's great, but I have a feeling you will need to find the image in the database directly and delete it's record.
Then, you could try uploading a smaller image.
One other idea, hide or unpublish that exhibit. Then try remaking that exhibit - again with smaller images and see how it oges.
