I was wondering if there´s a possibility to embed images from flickr or google drive and customize the view options as usually with the indexhibit uploader? I searched the forums, but questions regarding this were like 6 years old...

I actually made and tested things with Flickr - and it worked mostly. The problem then, as now, if images were too big it would crash the server (something we can not control). So, in the end I scrapped it. Those were different days, too.
You could write a plugin, customize a format to do as you want - would be the easiest way. Of course, you have to figure out the way to input this or that particular image or gallery. But, again, if images are too big, you could have issues. One of the advantages that hosted services have over shared web servers.
