not showing image after upload

chuk76 / 2018-12-17 20:07:10

after searching the forum and similar threads, sill the problem remains unsolved. Images turn in to gray squares after being uploaded. Simple names, no accent just letters. Small sizes under 200kb.
Seems like there is no connection to the host or something. Really frustrating. Please help

Show me a page that has one of these uploaded/published (even if it doesn't work).

That's not a link to an exhibit that is published on your site.

maybe this would be the correct on
cinemargulis.de/index.php/films/

No image at all is being uploaded - which leads me to believe that either the 'tmp' directory is not working properly (you need to ask your host about this) or you are on a non-standard shared webhost that has some odd path issues (something that would be on your to sort out).

Also, what I can see so far, is just one image that comes from a Vimeo thumbnail. Try uploading real images from your computer. It is possible there is an issue with Vimeo or even the Vimeo uploader (Vimeo is now changing their service inherently into something different if you didn't know). But, I still think something is wrong with the 'tmp' directory...nothing will work if it's not set right.

Vimeo links work just fine. the problem is with uploading images from my PC. I will try to address this to my webhost provider. Have no idea what 'tmp' is. Thanks

Are you totally sure your images are good? No layers...etc. Grab an image from the web (via your browser) and try to upload that. Still sounds like the tmp directory though...it's where uploaded files go on your server before they are placed on your server.

The images are screen shots created with "grab" saved as jpeg under 200Kb

funny, but the image from web worked. i don't understend

chuk76 / 2018-12-18 10:50:59

seems like images created with "grab" (on Mac) won't work. The thing is i have to create mostly screenshots from my videos. I will try to put them through Photoshop or use another sofft for grab. But thanks for your tip now i know it can be solved.

i just did en export of the same file via preview app and it works like magic. thanks

No idea what would be the difference, but it happens. Also, optimizing images via Photoshop or whichever app you use is a good idea.

No i have problems with my Vimeo linked videos. Sorry its another topic and it was working yesterday, but today i am getting just black screen in "overlay" mode. I tried every possible page option, attaching different covers, but nothing works.
cinemargulis.de/index.php/films/
i thought maybe it because i switched the SSL option and some other on my host in order to get the https// instead of "not secure"

chuk76 / 2018-12-18 18:11:52

I set back the website to "unsecure" by removing the SSL https// option on my host and videos became visible again. Is there any way to keep https and to get vimeo links visible?

Vaska A / 2018-12-18 20:58:53

https wants all outbound links to be https, as well. This is a browser issue...we can't control what they say about the security of your site nor can we control how they treat things. Make everything https and I bet it works. Right now, it says we're trying to connect to phpmyadmin and that is f'ing weird (not an Indexhibit issue).

chuk76 / 2018-12-20 11:35:36

i set it back to https. Unfortunately all Vimeo videos won't show up. Have to go back to "unsecure"
