Hey Ingrid:

Yes...but...only if you don't resize it (using the exhibit images uploader).

And/or...if you just use the Files Manager.

When you resize it, because servers can't figure out if something is an animated gif, you lose the animated part.

hi Vaska....
(i am getting there!!!)
so you saying i should upload them as fullsize?
(but that does resize too...) I am really into low tech, files manager sounds high tech...

hi i'm sorry to post twice in one day (i'm also having a problem with my slideshow) but if i can figure both of those things out, then i promise i won't mess with the site anymore. and i'm so greatfull for your help!

the problem is that the newest gifs i've uploaded are not animating. i've got a bunch up that are working already (although you can't see them now because of the earlier slideshow problem)
but the new ones i've added have just stopped.
and i have done nothing different (and the gifs are made correctly).
could the issue be with storage space? am i out?
here is an example of what i mean. the globe is supposed to be animating.

You can't upload animated gifs and have them work - the system doesn't do that.

It's very complicated to make that happen. Maybe someday when the GD library makes it easily possible for us.
