domain url cleanup //

im having trouble with my urls, when i type in my domain name alone the links on my site don't work (404 error- file not found). i have to have /indexhibitv070e/ follow the .com of my domain in order for my site to work and the links on the side to work. i think there is a place in the code that i have to delete the /indexhibitv070e/ but i haven't been able to find it, and my hosting doesn't seem to know either. has anyone ever encountered this problem before? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

... you drag the contents of the indexhibit folder (from your computer) into the root folder of your server.

...and not the folder itself.

thanks, i moved all of the contents of the indexhibit folder to my root folder, however now none of my links are working at all (my homepage is coming up though). i can still see all of my images in the ndxz-studio, however, when i view my actual site and click on the link on the side it says 404 error file not found. im worried that when i uploaded my contents, because it was inside the indexhibit folder, it may have messed it up when i removed it from that folder. im not sure what to do

Turn off the mod_rewrite stuff...it's clear they don't work. Not all host have this capability.

okay would you be able to tell me how to go about doing so

also- im quite worried that the links/images are going to be a bit jumbled after i make all of these changes. if i were to ask my host to delete everything off my site effectively setting it back to its original state, then re-downloaded the indexhibit program correctly and set it up again, would that work? im not sure if that would mess anything up with indexhibit if i were to reload everything

erin, you will have to follow these instructions backwards (the ones you did foward to get the clean urls):
http://www.indexhibit.org/tutorial/how-to-get-clean-urls/

Better start trying the simple ways than reinstalling .....
