Exhibit Plugin: Slideshow

Vaska A / 2007-10-19 14:20:01

Our fine intern,Simon Lagneaux, has kicked out a new plugin called 'Slideshow'.

What does it do?

It allows users to use previous and next buttons to view images. It has a nice fade effect.

If a user chooses to customize the plugin more information can be found by the original creator of the effecthere.

How to install?

Download and add the plugin into your '/ndxz-studio/site/plugin' folder. Then you can select it from your Exhibition Formats.

You also must place the 'jquery.cycle.all.js' file into the '/ndxz-studio/site/js' folder for this to work.

Simon has made a demo page which can be found on his site at:demo.

tried installing it (indexhibit 0.67), doesnt work for me ...

Vaska A / 2007-10-19 16:58:22

It works for us!

"URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in..."

That's one I've never seen before...I think your server won't let you use that one. I'll send you another attempt in a sec...

Andrej_Waldegg / 2007-10-19 16:59:25

yes it actually works for me too, but the php spits out the warnings ...

Vaska A / 2007-10-19 17:04:23

We took out the getimagesize() function...so it just uses the natural width and height of images. It's been updated and reuploaded.

Let us know how that works for y'all. ;)

Guy / 2007-10-20 19:01:37

Working great here. Thanks!

Russ / 2007-10-22 12:52:32

Thanks Simon! that is great.

strahler70 / 2007-10-22 14:16:34

Woo Yay!

Simao / 2007-12-08 19:17:31

Hey Simon - Thanks for the plugin

Quick question: Is there a way of adding more text in the image caption box. It only allows for about 7 word(ish) at present.

This_is_Make_Believe / 2008-02-20 11:56:55

I've downloaded and added the plugin into my '/ndxz-studio/site/plugin' folder. I've also placed the 'jquery.cycle.all file into my '/ndxz-studio/site/js' folder.

But I cannot seem to select the new format from my Exhibition Formats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 12:14:08

Hi Kevin:

Depending upon how you uploaded it...it might have some wonky permissions on the files. Check the permissions on the plugin itself and the js file. Set them both to 0755 and I bet this solves the problem.

Let us know.

This_is_Make_Believe / 2008-02-20 14:01:10

I set them both to 0755 but still no joy I'm afraid. I still can't select the slideshow exhibition format.

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 14:38:21

Are you positive it's in the right folder? It really does work...never had a complaint until today.

This_is_Make_Believe / 2008-02-20 15:56:07

Yep just checked, they're in the right folders to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for your time on this anyway. I'll have to find another around.

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 16:11:15

I'd like to check this for myself...can you send me the ftp and login to your Indexhibit setup?

contact [at] indexhibit [dot[ org

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 16:13:56

You see this?

We see your site...which means the file is either here and has the wrong permissions or it is not there.

Check it again...it's not Indexhibit that is missing this (unless it's a permissions issue).

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 16:15:10

Permissions on that file individually...not the folder.

Vaska A / 2008-02-20 17:38:57

No problem...he had a messy root directory and simply had things in the wrong places. ;)

scott / 2008-02-24 03:35:55

I just installed the new updated version and I can't see any of the plugins including slideshow. Not sure what's going on with it. I went into the plugins folder and everything seemed to be in the right places...

scott / 2008-02-24 09:04:04

never-mind.. i guess it took some time to kick in. all is well!!! I love playing around in indexhibit! by any chance is there gonna be a RSS feed option in an upcoming version?

Vaska A / 2008-02-24 10:51:43

Yep...many kinds of feeds built-in.

jim0266 / 2008-07-08 14:35:57

Where is this plugin? It's not in the download area.

Vaska A / 2008-07-08 17:24:17

arsondpi / 2009-03-02 20:39:17

If you're looking for the Iwakami plugin (click switch) then insert click switch in the searchbox on the left, or iwakami site:http://indexhibit.org/forum/ in a google search box and hit enter. There's lots of references for this.....

lemathieu A / 2009-10-17 19:21:41

I think I understand…
How do you upload your picture ?
For using exhibition formats, you have to use the file downloader at the bottom of the white space, where you wrote text for your projects.

If you use the file uploader at the top of this space, you will just have pics over and over…

clbn / 2009-10-17 19:38:05

yesss! It works !!! Thanks a lot ! (it was simple at least :p )

joachim / 2010-01-29 10:08:24

Hey all (i cant create a new thread so 'im posting this here)

i customized the sildeshow so that you can click on the image to go to next image, and to hide prev/next but keep 1/13 under the image using the height of it.

Here is the file

here is the example website

joachim / 2010-01-29 10:09:02

i'd like to customise my counter under the picture

something like 1/5, or to have it colored.

therefore id like to know where is the content of num span generated

  1. span id='num' >> outputs the counter

i looked at jquery.cycle.all.js and found this

  1. function donum(val)
  2. {
  3.     $('#num').html(val);
  4. };

jQuery's html() outputs a string, i can't find whre the val variable is generated, anyway i cant modify val

ideas welcome

thanks to all

anyway i can modify the output of this ?

thanks to all

rickykappa / 2010-01-29 10:23:11

it's in the plugin, there is a tiny bunch of code that you can style, looks like this (it's from a similar plugin, but the core should be the same)

  1. <span style='margin-left: 9px'>$i/$total</span>
joachim / 2010-01-29 16:07:19

it's not in the plugin
it's generated somwhere else

this is what is in the slideshow plugin

  1. $s .= "<p class='nav'><a id='prev' href='#'>Prev</a> | <a id='next' href='#'>Next</a><span id='num'></span></p>";

it must be generated somewhere else ...

joachim / 2010-01-29 19:08:18

got it, line 163 of jquery.cycle.all.js

  1. i changed
  2. donum(opts.nextSlide + 1 + '/' + els.length);
  3. to
  4. donum('<b>' + opts.nextSlide + 1 + '</b>/' + els.length);
  5. or
  6. donum('<b>' + opts.nextSlide + 1 + '</b>/' + els.length);

but it doesn't work it's not bold on the first pic and the second one does 31/8

here is the donum function which is a bit below

  1. function donum(val)
  2. {
  3.     $('#num').html(val);
  4. };

according to http://docs.jquery.com/Html it should work

i'll continue searching ...

rickykappa / 2010-01-29 19:08:21

yes, you're right, it's the 'num' which is probably called from a jquery file... however you could style the whole result ( 1/5 ) if you don't want to look through the whole file...

joachim / 2010-01-29 19:09:08

an example http://la-projects.com/test/index.php?/lundi/ep--saison-1/

joachim / 2010-01-29 20:41:52
  1. wow weird when i do this in the JS file
  2. donum('<b>' + opts.nextSlide + 1 + '</b>/' + els.length );

it counts from 0 outputs it an then outputs 1

this is why it goes

joachim / 2010-02-01 19:11:34

thx Vaska ...

thx rickykappa,
as i said i edited the js file (jquery.cycle.all.js), if i add some html in it, it goes 01/8 ... 11/8 ... 21/8.
and it only works ob the second click ...

still searching where the first round is generated .....

This thread has been closed, thank you.
