403 Forbidden

Wackysparkle / 2009-10-21 20:32:10

Right, I've managed to get past eevveerrytthinngg now, and got my database uploaded :)
But now, if I go to 'view your site', I get a:

403 Forbidden message: you don't have permission to access/on this server

I'm a real technological moron whe it comes to these types of things, and I honestly don't know what to do - I found out something about checking my FTP for the default website page? But I don't even know how to do that either :( Is there something I'm supposed to do that I haven't already done?
I saw in another thread that the index.html needs to be deleted? Does this apply to me? Is this file in the FTP?

I know I've asked so many questions now, I'm sorry :(

one thing at a time...how about an address?

Wackysparkle / 2009-10-22 11:48:24

thank you!

By doing a quick search with the search box (keyword: 403) on the left I think it has to do with your host.
check they're running apache (or similar) on linux, and that php in on.

I just asked another indexhibit user who is a friend of mine. She managed to find out what was wrong - I had to change the permissions of my htdocs folder as well to '777'
By doing this the restriction was lifted and I can see my website now :)

Thank you for taking the time out to help me though!

777 on the root folder is a bit crazy. Try 755 instead.

Wackysparkle / 2009-10-22 13:59:43

Okay, thank you :) I'm having some other issues right now - I will attempt to fix that :S

Wackysparkle / 2009-10-22 14:39:53

I have a new problem now, I've got my website up and running, but now I'm unable to edit it.
I've typed in the link below,
http://www.raadiyah-rifath.com/ndxz-studio

And get the response: 403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /ndxz-studio/ on this server.

I've changed my htdocs permission to 755, and my config folder as well as the config.php file permission to 777, and the files and gimg files are also at 777.
But I'm still getting this message.

Last night, I was able to edit the page hence you can click on 'architecture' and there will be a paragraph on 'identity' that I wrote up. But today, I can't edit anymore.

Would appreciate any help, and thank you for the assistance so far :)

Similar to Wackysparkle's problem of 403 forbidden, at this point no sucess. The webiste is ariegraafland.eu, any siggestions?

Wackysparkle / 2009-10-22 21:52:40

I resorted to re-installing the entire thing again gjb, and now everything is working.

Wackysparkle, by re-installation you mean redo everything from start to finish...?
