Slideshow : Text below images

suzaphone / 2010-02-16 15:33:36

Hello, I know this is an old topic, but reading all threads in this forum didn't really help me find a solution. I do know a fair bit about CSS but nothing about PHP...so, without clear "step by step" instruction (go to this document and do exactly that) I feel really lost here.

Is there an easy way to place a caption and navigation from the built-in "slideshow"-option under the images?

If not, is there a suitable plug-in somewhere...even off the indexhibit website? And now can it be customised?

Thanks a lot.

This is because, as you have read, there isn't really a solution to this because Slideshow does some really painful things. And, as stated in many threads, search for 'click switch' - this is a format around here that is much easier to customize.

Ah no, haven't come across that one...only Iwakami and Djuve and stuff. Will try to find this then *sigh*

Iwakami is the same as click switch.

ok that explains why I couldn't find a download link.....

do you have a reliable link for Iwakami by any chance? seems that people post modified versions as well...which i guess, can be erratic?

thanks ever so much

Searching 'click switch' doesn't work? It's always worked before...

The best 'Slideshow' examples I've seen where Iwakami/Click Switch - it's not erratic at all.

No, I found it finally...well hidden at the very bottom of a super long thread about name-giving.

Can I suggest that you add one page with all plugins listed that people mention in this forum?

Indexhibit is a great tool, I agree, but finding the bits + bobs that you need is really a pain...and I am used forums (arduino etc)but this one is particularly confusing somehow...

Someday we'll have that. But a huge amount of people are getting things done for a couple years already now...we're playing catch up to all of this these days.

well...but you spend a lot of time answerring individuals in the forum.

;)

maybe use that time to just make it all a bit clearer and rewarding - and also all the desparate forum posts from non-PHP-people will decrease massively.

Indexhibit runs out of the box... remember?
It's not about the customizations. It's about the content.

Nevertheless this forum likes sharing and helping out, rather than pointing out.
At least that my personal interpretation of it. You're very welcome to pitch in if you want...

We all work for a living around here as well (and we're doing this for free). I've answered your question honestly. Give us a break...we never expected all of this. Evolution takes time...

It's worth saying, Vaska, that you and the others here are awesome. You've made an amazing thing--not only because a lot of people can make clean, nice looking websites, but that we're all learning a thing or two about html, java, etc in the process. It's tasty and good for you too!

I've also noticed that when I get frustrated about something on my site, if I poke around the forums a bit, and keep tinkering with the code, I can usually fix the problem. I like that DIY ethic.

This thread has been closed, thank you.
