I'm having some problems uploading images, last week everything was going well but this morning it seems not to work the uploading buttom.

What changed in the past week?

nothing that i can recall. The size of the images are small and I've trying it to keep it below 150kb. Doesn't appear any error messages or anything, takes long time to send the request and then nothing happens....

Something was changed...did you check the permissions on files and gimgs folders? Have you used up all the space on your site? Perhaps the server is simply super busy right now (sometimes happens to our server)? Or, perhaps you accidentally delete an important file (people do this all the time).

If it worked before...it will work again...but something was clearly changed (accidentally or otherwise).

hmmmm strange but I have no idea how to check the permissions on files and gimgs folders!! Maybe the server is busy I've been trying to upload images for the last few hours. I don't want to make a mistake and download everything again, maybe the best idea right now is leave it until tomorrow or sunday the latest. hopefully the problem will be solve by then. :( it's just frustating!

How did you install it without being able to set the permissions? It's the same thing...

Well the technician in my uni did it for me but he left a week ago, so I don't know where are the permissions? I just tried to upload images and is the same as yesterday...i'll wait a bit more i guess!

Update: I've tried to change the theme and is taking ages waiting to connect to the domain. I was looking at cyberduck and the files and there is no changes from mid february but I delete my old custom theme and changed it for a new one last week. Also yesterday I change the exhibit name but then i change it back as I was not happy with it. I don't know if this affect my uploading or not, have no clues.

You can check the permissions with your ftp application - read the How To Install page for more information about what you are looking for.

Also, school servers are not the most reliable for these kinds of web applications...things are often being changed/adjusted...etc...

I was looking at the gimgs folder on my ftp and i found all the images I've uploaded over the last month last upload on the 15th of march. I don't know how to change the permissions? I can see any number or option to do it. sorry If i asking something obvious but I don't know.
I've uploaded the application on university but i'm working at home most of the time.

the permissions are: rwxrwxrwx (777)

As I said, these kinds of servers are not the best places for web applications. I really don't have any idea what's going on here...and my best guess is that something has been changed or limited on the server.

My server is mochahost; I've already contact them and waiting for a response. Thanks for your help and I'll let you know what they say asap.

They are going to tell you that it's a problem with the app. And, I'm saying something was changed - and I have no idea what it could be although I have offered many suggestions.

You are right they told me that't the problem is with the web application, useless people. When you mean server you mean my internet connection or you mean the web hosting? sorry to being annoying now! I'll will try to upload maybe from a different network to see if something change?

I have no idea...something was changed. I recommend starting over if you are unable to determine what's going on here. I can not tell from where I am what the problem is - it is not always possible for me to know.

oh well, I'm trying to reload the files but my connection get lost all the time, also I tried the site reset script the one you suggested in some older post but didn't work in fact now I can't access any of the folder or exhibits i get an error message:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@maridelcarmensmith.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

One thing I don't understand is that if i delete the exhibit program or messed up why my website still showing? i can't access the exhibits anymore but my website is on???

now i've tried to upload again all my files and folders taking care not to touch file folder, site folder, config folder and defaults php. I manage to run install after deleting config.php as i got a message ask me to do that. anyway now this message appeared and when i press let's login I go back to 500 internal error.

OK Looks like the database is ready.

The default login / password is index1 / exhibit.

Change these and your site settings once inside.

Delete the install.php file from your site.

We have an installation service in extreme cases where people can't do it (look to the left). But, honestly, I think you need to find proper webhosting...university services hosting is not a good route to go. We won't install on a host if we think it won't work, as well.

But Mochahost in not a university server. The thing is when i click on login appear the error. I'll contact mocha again.

You need to slow down...one thing at a time. I think you keep messing things up because you start trying so many things...many of which have no bearing upon the problem at all.

I've been doing everything it says here plus more and nothing seems to work, the website is there but i can't accsess the exhibit page as i got the error. is not working for me if I can't upload my work.

Obviously. Might be one of the very rare servers where Indexhibit does not work.

mmm but it did work before for a whole month. Do you think it's because i'm at home and when I set up my webhosting and indexhibit I was at university. my database host may have change? I'll may try to see it is work in uni tomorrow.

I really have no more advice or input...this is well beyond what I would call a common problem.

I manage to check my databases and nothing have change and i haven't change anything so. Is there any service to repair my index and be able to upload new content?
Is it the same service at 100 euros per hour?

Please check if you have any .htaccess file which is badly written.

Also please make sure that all your files and folders are with correct permissions. For files 644 and for folders 755.

looking at my ftp, my public_html folder has the file htaccess (without dot) and the folder was set to 750 permission i have change it for 755 at the moment.
I've also found inside the folder public_html/files a file name ndxz.users.php I'm not sure this is the right location for the file? Also in ndxz-studio folder the defaults.php is set to 666 is that right?

Please note that your folders must have permissions 755 and your files - 644.

It's funny as I checked the permissions before anyway Now I'm able to acces my index but I'm back to the first problem my update button in the main/settings doesn't work, the upload button in any exhibit doesn't work either also the files manager upload is not working and if i try upload background image no luck. I already contact them again but I don't know what else to do.

It worked before...and now it doesn't. Something was changed...I have no idea where this has gone wrong.

I couldn't explain how to debug something like that...it takes some skill to even know what to look at.

Hi Vaska I think have some positive news. I tried to upload a fresh copy of sample style sheet and then i tried safari browser to change the theme back to sample and worked!! :) But I still not able to upload images however I can see an error now which said to contact my webmaster which i did.

do you have any idea why my exhibit doesn't work in firefox 3.6.2? I mean some buttom disappear like the upload buttom for the background image for example.
