404 not found

russellpohl / 2009-04-03 14:44:31

Alright got to the install page. I assume the database server is my IP address? Why isn't it accepting my database info?

MADianito / 2009-04-22 04:00:42

Ok, so I read all of the post on this thread, nah not really, but like 90% of them, and i still can't really figure out why i cant finish the "install.php" part of indexhibit... it just doesn't appear at the address it should be, also double, triple and more times checked what should be the right ROOT FOLDER, and i have it right, also i UPLOADED ONLY THE CONTENT of the indexhibit folder... I've been all day trying to figure this out, i just don't understand where im messing it... any help?? :( (need the full url?)

MADianito / 2009-04-22 14:14:34

ok nevermind, i figured it out, small little misspelling of the url was what kept me whithout being able to finish the install

Dulcie / 2009-05-18 21:26:31

Hello,
I'm sorry to ask as i'm sure it comes up all the time; i've been trying to make it work since Friday night and i can't do it!
I've followed word to word on how to install and emailed my host and they said everything should be fine.
But i still get the 404 error.

Dulcie / 2009-05-21 13:16:08

sorry to take so long to reply,
just wanted to say thank you so much! I've got it working..
well, sort of.
When i go to www.dulciewalker.com it's just blank, but when i edit / view my website from my Indexhibit account it views fine.

I hope that makes sense. sorry!!

Thanks again.

Vaska A / 2009-05-21 13:18:45

The problem is that you need to move all of your files from the 'indexhibitv070e' folder down a level into the root...then it should all work just fine.

Dulcie / 2009-05-21 13:24:44

thank you, i'll give that a go.
I contacted my webhost and asked which folder my root folder is, but i'll just check.

Dulcie / 2009-05-21 20:10:44

ah, i'm sorry to be so annoying!!
But i am very new to this website thingy! ;)

When you say...
'move all of your files from the 'indexhibitv070e' folder down a level into the root'

What does that mean in thicko language?

sorry, i feel bad taking your time up on such silly things.
i'm also emailing my host too in case they can help me.

Thank you.

Vaska A / 2009-05-21 20:13:20

Drag and drop the files from the folder they are in...to the next level down...that is the root of your site.

I have similar problems as every one else. Followed all the steps but when I go to install it just comes up page not found blah blah.
Here are my details, please help.

andrewd / 2009-08-14 12:43:00

I Have put the contents of the indexhibit folder in my public_html folder which I think is my root/home folder.

lemathieu A / 2009-08-14 13:34:45

Ask you're host.
We cannot know it.

ymerey / 2009-09-29 17:01:27

Hello,

I've read the posts above and I tried various things and I think I'm missing something small, but I'm still not able to install Indexhibit. I've asked my host if I'm able to set it up and they told me yes and I've set up a database as well. But, I still get the following message.

(In the meantime, I created a page for my website in Dreamweaver and I was able to load it without any problems.)

www.jeremyclouser.com is my site. Here is the message I'm getting. (http://www.jeremyclouser.com/ndxz-studio/install.php)

Not Found

The requested URL /ndxz-studio/install.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Vaska A / 2009-09-29 17:25:37

Here it is -> http://www.jeremyclouser.com/indexhibitv070e/index.php

But, it's not working. I think something is not setup on the server - it appears that PHP isn't even working. Some hosts forget to enable this...you should ask them about this.

Or, you could be having some heavy permissions issues...which I hope they could address.

ymerey / 2009-09-29 17:31:36

I was able to get in. I moved the indexhibit folders to the root... Now I'm trying to edit the site. I'll try a bit more and if I run into a dead end I'll check the PHP (I have to learn about it first as well!)

Thanks for the quick reply!

ymerey / 2009-09-29 18:17:10

I'm able to get to the editing page, but it doesn't appear as my home page on my site. I get a list of all the different options.

www.jeremyclouser.com

My host says PHP is enabled, but they're checking it out for me.

arsondpi / 2009-09-29 19:44:14

I can't find install.php and it seems that there's no index.php file in the root folder.

It seems to me that you're missing indexhibit files...
I would reupload the contents of the indexhibit folder....

ymerey / 2009-09-30 03:05:27

I'm up and running thanks for your help!

OJM / 2009-10-04 11:50:43

Hi,

I've read the majority of the posts and have followed the installation instructions closely.
But I'm still not able to install indexhibit. I have gathered all the information needed for the setup from my host, UK2net.

But, I still get the following message:

(http://www.olivermayes.co.uk/ndxz-studio/install.php)

Not Found

The requested URL /ndxz-studio/install.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Any help and I would be grateful

Vaska A / 2009-10-04 11:59:38

You see this?

This means the files are not there. This is one of the most common problems throughout this site regarding installations - and it has nothing to do with Indexhibit.

Ask your host for help and information regarding where you upload files to your site.

OJM / 2009-10-04 12:37:12

Thanks for your quick reply

I recieved an email from the host, telling me where to place the files when uploading to the site and did what they said.

I have now managed to complete the installation fully

Thanks

noschika / 2009-10-08 15:33:33

Hi there!

I've read all the posts but I still seem to have the same problem ( Error 404 - Not found). The thing is, it worked with my other page and I'm sure I didn't make a mistakes.

I deleted all the indexhibit files from my old page (emmiloves.de) on my server and dragged and dropped it again for my new page (c-raftopoulo).

Do you think that this could be the problem?

noschika / 2009-10-08 16:03:38

NEVER MIND!!! I got it!

It seems that when you actually formulate your question and post it here, the problem disappears.. :-)

cheers!

ymerey / 2009-10-16 00:02:16

Hi, I'm back with another problem. The problem I need to solve isn't big, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I think it is just a matter of uploading things to my server.

I can see the images I want on a preview, but when I go to the 'real' website I get this message:

Not Found

The requested URL /projects/casetas/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What I don't know how to do, and I imagine it's very simple to do, is upload the page to my server so that the images appear.

Here's the page in question.

http://jeremyclouser.com/projects/casetas/

arsondpi / 2009-10-16 10:23:41

question: did you rename the sections names recently by any chance?

ymerey / 2009-10-17 16:05:22

no I don't believe that I have

Audreys / 2009-10-26 14:47:37

Hi People,
First of my problems ist the same - I think.

1)At first everything was fine. The database was very easy.
I am not sure which step I made was wrong. I changed the folder structures. So the indexhibitv070e-folder is on the root on my ftp-server. Than I could see ever everything on www.studio-sima.de - but I couldn´t see the database on http://www.studio-sima.de/indexhibit/
So I tried to change the folder structure into the old version. But doesn´t work. No I can see everything on http://www.studio-sima.de/indexhibit/indexhibitv070e/ but where is the database?

When the page is ready, everything should present on www.meinfreundistdj.de (it is the ft-server) - in which document I have to change this information?

2) My second Problem is ... as you can see, you have to sroll the menue. I´d tried to read everything about expanding the menue. But nothing works.

3) I want to change the position of text and pics.
First I want show my work and underlying the describing.
Where can I change it?

Hope somebody can help me with one of the points.

Audreys / 2009-10-26 15:41:20

For the first Problem I found a solution!

lemathieu A / 2009-10-26 16:09:54

2) I see nothing connected to the expanded menu… no javascript, nothing after

  1. setTimeout('move_up()', 1);
Audreys / 2009-10-26 16:49:02

HI lemathieu,

Ok, I load expandingMenus.js up.
Nothing changed

  1. Have copy
  2. setTimeout('move_up()', 1);
  3. it into a PHP Code? I got so many index.php so I am not sure which is for what.

Audreys / 2009-10-26 17:31:14

I got these PHP-Code in this folder:
indexhibit\indexhibitv070e\ndxz-studio\site\sample

:

path =

'/files/gimgs/';

$(document).ready(function()
{

setTimeout('move_up()', 1);
});

$(document).ready(function()

{
setTimeout('move_up()', 1);
expandingMenu(0);
expandingMenu(1);
expandingMenu(2);
expandingMenu(3);

});

    1. </body>
    2. </html>
    Audreys / 2009-10-26 17:33:26

    Sorry, it was not all ....
    It will try again.

    I too got the 404 not found error message, followed the initial post responses above, and then encountered a 500 Internal Server Error message:
    Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@amandadicksonphotography.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    I have contacted my server forum, but am wondering if you're able to assess why i can't get past these error messages and into my site (http://www.amandadicksonphotography.com//ndxz-studio/install.php)
    THANK you.

    Hello,

    I've encountered the same internal server error when installing. Yesterday, it was working fine up until when it came to entering in the database details, though would proceed to show an internal server error. Today, nothing's working. The address is http://www.artistjamesphillips.co.uk hosted by supergreen hosting.

    Merci,

    James

    Hello,

    Vaska, please help!

    I have combed through this forum for any little tidbit of information I might have missed in getting my installation problem resolved, and have tried all offered solutions.

    I have been stuck at the "500 Internal Server Error" message, unable to go any further. I have made sure the Indexhibit files are IN the root folder, where I changed their permissions. I have double checked for typos.

    But when I go to http://www.amandadicksonphotography.com/ndxz-studio/install.php I continue to receive the Internal Server Error.

    I would love your help!
    Thank you.
    Amanda

    lemathieu A / 2009-11-17 22:27:10

    Did you follow all steps of the installation guide ?

    Can you try to change your htaccess file by renaming it .htaccess (that will "hide" it)

    ama / 2009-11-18 03:55:28

    Interesting, lemathieu--

    For some reason I had 2 htaccess files in my public_html folder, one named htaccess and the other .htaccess. I renamed htaccess & reloaded http://www.amandadicksonphotography.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

    Instead of the "500 Internal Server Error" I am now getting the message: "Database is not installed." Still not there. Getting closer?

    Thanks.
    Amanda

    222collective / 2009-12-03 13:33:34

    Hey i have the same problem here. Im using hostmonster and my site is:
    http://www.222collective.com/ndxz-studio/install.php

    i dont know what to do!!!!!

    Vaska A / 2009-12-03 13:38:57

    It's not uploaded to the right place...you may need to confirm with your host which folder to upload to. See, it's not there at all...

    http://www.222collective.com/ndxz-studio/index.php

    222collective / 2009-12-03 14:08:05

    i put it in the root.... does it do anything if its uploaded in few different places on my ftp? cause i might have put it everywhere to try.

    Vaska A / 2009-12-03 16:03:56

    The root...is not always the correct place. And the root of your website is not the same as the root of your webhosting account.

    So, the best thing to do is ask your host which folder to put your files into...it's different for all the hosts so we can't guess where it should go.

    222collective / 2009-12-03 23:12:50

    sweet! i found the root. but now it says database not installed....

    222collective / 2009-12-03 23:33:16

    actually it says that:

    Warning: require_once(./helper/entrance.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/twotwot6/public_html/ndxz-studio/install.php on line 20

    but the file is there.....

    Lux19 / 2009-12-07 05:44:37

    Heyo, same problem here. I've uploaded into my root folder and 777ned everything I needed to, but www.gejones.net/ndxz-studio/install.php still gives me the 404 page.

    Vaska A / 2009-12-07 08:13:02

    Have you read the previous posts in this thread?

    Your files are in the wrong place...this is why they do not appear. If you don't know where they should go then ask your host.

    bonhamca / 2009-12-21 00:22:12

    Hi there,

    I did all the things in the installation guide, was able to enter my database username, etc, changed my password, and it appeared that for a second i had a site. Then i changed my permissions from 777 back to 644 and 755, and whether it's because of that or not i don't know but my site seems to have gone away...

    this url

    http://www.camillebonham.com/indexhibitv070e/index.php

    gives me this error message:

    Warning: require_once(ndxz-studio/defaults.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home1/camille6/public_html/indexhibitv070e/index.php on line 9

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'ndxz-studio/defaults.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home1/camille6/public_html/indexhibitv070e/index.php on line 9http://www.camillebonham.com/indexhibitv070e/index.php

    and http://www.camillebonham.com/ just gives me the generic bluehost placeholder site.

    Is this something one of you folks could help me with, or do I need to contact bluehost? I'm not computer savy at all and it's sheer luck I got this far. Help me out?
    Thanks!!

    bonhamca / 2009-12-21 01:39:52

    oh, sorry, figured it out, same mistake as everyone else...

    This thread has been closed, thank you.
