Really really easy font replacement

blameme / 2010-05-19 20:03:35

Hey I just thought someone might be interested in this, I just ran across it today, looks like google got all into web fonts and put up the Google font directory, It's a matter of selecting a font and 2 copy pastes. Super fast and great for anyone that doesn't want to mess with cufon, kernest, typekit or whatever.

More interesting is that they got together with typekit on the open source project WebFont Loader, giving control over loading and rendering.

Happy days for type addicts.

Me as well - still haven't had luck with it yet...

Arson, no luck with the font directory? I changed the fonts on this in about 2 minutes, no problems, using the @import in the stylesheet option though.

...yeah well, maybe god thinks I'm not cool enough lately....

Hey Arson, yup –  like blameme – just 2 minutes to change my site using @import on stylesheets.

You can do it mate!!

Oh man...I can't wait (for something)!

not a whole lot of selection on google yet ... kernest however has a lots of free choices... though often they don't have all the weights, italics etc you might want. They also let you self-host the fonts as well where licensing permits. I've found this to be best, as they aren't the fastest (or most stable) delivery platform.

I've not played with cufon yet. Will give it a gander - perhaps if I owned or did more of my own typography I'd have more use of it.

can you help?

blameme / 2010-05-20 19:36:52

Yea you need to add the code to the index.php of the theme you are using
/ndxz-studio/site/sample/index.php or if you click the Font variants and advanced techniques link at the bottom of the page that gives you the code and you can get the @import link to put in your css
